The proposal
When Thumbelina looked in the mirror she no longer recognized herself. There was a time when she’d get a glimpse of the girl she was before. It would be when she was painting sitting by the lake, but now when she saw herself she was reminded of the girl she was before Walt. When she was sleeping with strangers for rides, to the next city, the next state, the nearest bus station. Now that Cornelius appeared she didn’t know who she was. Both girls where from her past and with the reappearance of Cornelius they where fighting it out.
Cornelius was lying in her bed, watching her as she got ready for the day. “Gosh you’re beautiful.” he whispered, causing Thumbelina to stop what she was doing and look at the boy.
“You know what they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder.” she kept from him the fact that in her eyes it was he that was beautiful and that no matter which girl won the battle within her, they wanted to be with him.
“There’s a reason I’m here.” Cornelius wrapped his muscular arms around her and pulled him into him, his hot breath coating the back of her neck, a scent his scent, filling her nose euphorically. “I want to take you home darling, I want you to officially be my princess.” The words caught in his throat. Thumbelina knew that what was coming next.
“Thumb, I want to be with you forever, you are my life’s purpose, will you honor me with your hand in marriage?”
Prince Cornelius
Thumbelina looked into her mirror brushing damp hair from her face. “He is in my bed.” Her nails had left crescent moons on the vanity and her lips parted as she tried to wrap her head around what was going on. “Cornelius is in my bed” she said aloud this time. Her voice lowered and she spoke slower. “Cornelius is in my bed.” She had slept in jeans the night before and now everything felt tight and twisted on her. The sheets of her bed were thrown everywhere but there he was a gorgeous body curled up hair tasseled and chest bare. She wanted him…badly, but there she was hiding in the bathroom trying to forget the heat, the pressure of his lips as the pressed into hers. Thumbelina had dreams of him every night before he arrived, but now he was here, three feet away from her, and she wished he wasn’t.
The differences between the two
Alone Thumbelina sat by the lake thinking of the times she’d spent here, doing everything and nothing in particular. She felt her days were numbered, knowing that her nightmares will soon becoming true. Cornelius, her dear Cornelius will be here before she could even think twice. Her back was to the school her eyes on the grave road that led to her room. Like a women walking to her death she looked at the car hat was going down the road at that exact moment. It a shining new sports car with a royal license plate and it was being driven by a gorgeous driver with pitch black hair, and an even more attractive boy sitting in the back seat. She knew who’s it was the moment she saw it and knew for a fact that they wouldn’t be leaving with out her. She got up from the grass walking slowly towards the car. That’s when she saw the window open and the familar face smiling at her.
“Thumb!” He cried. Jumping out of the moving vehicle, running towards her as fast as he could. As he wrapped his arms around her she was aware of what a happy day this was for him, and she could no longer stop herself from crying.
Warning: Thumbelina will be trying to make the most of life before Cornelius arrives, so there will be random dancing
He’s coming
Nothing I could write could sweeten what happened after she left Cornelius. Thumbelina spent nights on couches, alleyways, and the back seats of cars with strangers. She didn’t eat for days and did things she swore she would never think of again, but of course promises to yourself will not keep dreams away at night. From the moment she was arrested she was waiting for the phone call she had recieved those nights ago and now it had finally come. Thumbelina had spent the nights after the call awake, her eyes swelling as she gazed out windows waiting to see Cornelius walking up the steps of the school. This particular night she lay on the roof allowing the cold brick to cut her back and cool her body. Part of her wanted to roll off, to let her body fall down the height of the building and to the concreat bellow. She didn’t do that though in stead she tried to decide exactly what she would do if he did arrived. Running was always an option, but she worried he would follow her yet again. She hadn’t had a cigarette of drop of alchol in what seemed like ages she wanted it so bad. Standing u she allowed one foot to dangle off of the edge, her shoe falling down.
“Cornelius.” She whispered wondering if she was worth all of this heartache. She felt like the shell of the girl she used to be and she could have sworn that she heard him call back to her. Because now it was clear to her that he would be coming that he would be here at Walt….soon.
What led me here.
In the years before she began attending Walt Academy Thumbelina was living in her boyfriend Cornelius. After years of floating from foster home to foster home the studio apartment was like heaven, he boyfriend, her night in shining armor. The years she spent there where the best of her life, but as usual all good things come to an end.
The end began with a crash. It wasn’t from the apartment, no, but a hundreds of miles away in Leona Texas. A girl with blonde hair and blue eyes had gone into labor and knocked down a picture frame on her way to the door. Her mother—a fifty seven year old women excited for her grandchild— tried her best to get her out of the door and to the hospital, but when she saw the picture both of them stopped. The girl got quiet and as a contraction hit her she picked up her cell phone and turned to her mother, “I have to call him.” She said and did exactly that.
Thumbelina was lying in a cocoon of blue plaid sheets, the fabric cool against her body. There was a musical hum coming through the wall to where Cornelius sat in a leather recliner watching black and white movies. Thumbelina was trying to go to sleep, but the knowledge that he was so close yet not touching her was driving her completely crazy. She’d spent what felt like forever staring at the wall, attempting to use jedi mind tricks to get him to come to bed, but soon realized she wasn’t a true jedi. Trudging to the door she stood with her back to the television eyes on the boy looking at her. He raised an eye brow and smirked. “Hello Thumb.” he said bringing a hand through his thick hair. “Go to bed.” she answered approaching him. “Now why should I do that?”
Thumbelina had played this game before, it had led to their first date, first kiss, and many flirty conversations after that. She stepped forward her knees touching his.
“Pretty please?” she asked pressing her hands to the recliner on either side of his head. She kissed him deeply, biting his bottom lip.
“Maybe..” he said kissing her again, pulling her in to his lap. The recliner went back farther as her shirt fell to the floor. They leaned into each other and breathlessly he asked “Do you want to do this?” As Thumbelina nodded and kissed him the phone rang. She broke away and allowed him to answer it, knowing his OCD would cause him to answer it anyway. He gave a shy smile and picked it up, pressing it to his ear, in that moment his face fell. “Are you serious?” he looked to his watch. “I’ll be there soon.” Then he picked Thumbelina up and sat her on the ground, leaving her looking up at him like a small child. “What is it?” she asked, watching as his head hang down.
Cornelius told her the story with a grave voice and tear filled eyes. He told her of a blonde girl with blue eyes that he met in Leona. Of a summer love and the passionate night before he left. This happened before Thumbelina and Cornelius and started dating. He had gotten her pregnant_ something he had known until the phone call_ and was going into labor. He cupped her face begging her to forgive him, to wait for him because he needed her. She said she would, but the moment he left she packed up her stuff and ran.
